A District Medical Officer is required for a general practice and anaesthesia role in Western Australia. This is a full-time role with a contract valid for up to 5 years in a beautiful but remote area of Australia. You must have great confidence in your ability to work independently and manage all sorts of challenges. You will also need a formal qualification and experience in anaesthesia as well as general practice and proficiency in managing emergency cases.
The role is based in small hospitals and outreach GP clinics across the northern part of the state and is ideal for experienced GPs who relish working in a multisciplinary team and using a diverse range of medical skills as and have an enthusiasm for working with Aboriginal communities. You will serve remote communities and provide them with sound healthcare.
Working 40 hours per week, you will be rostered to clinical duties in the emergency department and/or GP clinics at each hospital in the region and will also be assigned to a 1:3 on call rota. This position reports to and is supported by the Senior Medical Officer at each site.
The skills required are :
- competence and extensive experience in obstetric and paediatric anaesthesia
- practise without clinical supervision.
- experience working with in Aboriginal health preferred.
- emergency department experience, with additional primary health care knowledge and skills.
Qualification and Education Requirements
- FRACGP or FCRRM
- Formal anaesthesia qualification
- AHPRA registration
MP Year 1-6 $373,717p.a - $468,628p.a.
Salary as per WA Health System Medical practitioners AMA Industrial Agreement 2016: includes
- Arrangement A salary $273,268pa - $348,766pa
- professional development allowance $30,180pa
- 36% annual commuted allowance for participating in a 1 in 3 on call roster $70,269 - $89,682pa. Rates effective as at 1st October 2018.
- District Allowance applies to $7,436 pa. Rates effective as 1st October 2015.
In addition (in line with operational requirements), shift penalties apply for working 1 in 3 weekends; rental and travel subsidies apply; gratuity payment equivalent to 12 weeks salary after the first 3 years of continuous service and after each subsequent year a lump sum equivalent to four weeks salary is paid; 9.5% employer contributed superannuation; access to salary packaging up to $19,000 pa, professional development opportunities and study leave/assistance, and flexible leave arrangements apply to this position.
