A Consultant Dermatologist role awaits physicians with specialist qualifications registerable in New Zealand. The location is superb and the hospital an outstanding secondary care facility currently undergoing expansion. WHAT YOU WILL DO
You will join a department of 12 Consultant Physicians who have subspecialty interests in General Medicine, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Respiratory, Renal and Rheumatology and your scope of practice will be limited to adult dermatology (paediatric dermatology is provided by another physician).
In addition to clinics you will also be available to review inpatients on request from colleagues. There is no expected on call,however, collegial advice may be sought from time to time after hours.
The Department of Medicine has a strong track record with education and training, and you will be expected to participate and contribute to the department's CME activities, including basic & advanced trainee registrar teaching, audit and medical student teaching.
Summary of clinical and non clinical duties
Clinical: A combination of adult dermatology clinics, MDMs, biopsy clinic, Phototherapy and Immuno-therapy monitoring, plus Inpatient consultations as necessary. Clinical administration (e.g. telephone, ad hoc, family meetings, letters, health promotion, etc.) will be incorporated into the above hours
Non-clinical: self development, grand rounds, audit and QA, teaching, supervision, planning, etc.
WHAT YOU NEED
- Professional Licence: NZ vocational registration, or eligibility for such registration will be required.
- FRACP or equivalent qualification
- IELTS Academic mean score 7.5 for non native English speakers
A progressive regional secondary referral centre with a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. A well-equipped Radiology Department provides a wide range of diagnostic and some interventional procedures. There is an excellent Laboratory Service and the IT service is among the best in the country.
Stage Two of the building development will see the construction of a 20,000m2, six-storey building housing many of the acute clinical services including ED, ICU, Maternity, Primary Birthing, Neonatal, Radiology, Laboratory and a roof-top helipad.
