Role: Consultant Psychiatrist

Scope of practice – acute general adult psychiatry

Contract: permanent and full time

Hours: Full time (1.0 FTE)

 

Role Details

This role in based in a Crisis Resolution Service across the Wellington region.

You will be responsible for ensuring that all clinical steps necessary are taken to assist patients to achieve optimal health, wellbeing and safety through the provision of appropriate assessment, intervention and education.

You will provide high quality diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of patients and will assume responsibility for supporting clinical development of this service.

The Crisis Resolution Service (CRS) is a 24 hour community mental health and addictions team working. CRS is part of the Mental Health, Addictions and Intellectual Disability Service and responds to the acute needs of people who are experiencing psychological distress and require immediate intervention in the community.

The inpatient unit is a 24 hour mental health assessment and treatment unit for adults aged from 18 upwards who are experiencing serious mental health concerns.

The team is multi-disciplinary with a focus on recovery and returning people to their usual life with community support if needed.

The post is based in a busy 260-bed facility providing secondary services for a population of 150,000 and the tertiary centre for regional plastics, oral maxillofacial, burns and rheumatology services. It is the lead provider of the National Breast Screening Aotearoa Programme for breast screening services.

  • Eligibility for vocational or provisional vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • FRANZCP or equivalent qualification
