Our client seeks to hire a Consultant Paediatrician for a permanent role in Community Paediatrics, part time or full time. The successful candidate will join a team lead by 7 consultant paediatricians fully engaged in the provision of services including:

  • Child protection
  • Violence Intervention Program
  • Gateway assessments
  • Public Health team
  • Well established Children's Team
  • General and Rural Out patient clinics


The Paediatric Department is based in a regional hospital in the North Island of New Zealand. The hospital has 246 beds and is the referral centre for 3 small hospitals situated within the region which has a population of 160,000 spread over a large area. The area is famous for its beautiful beaches and large game fishing. Facilities include 24/7 ER seeing 48,000 patients yearly, 25% children.

The hospital is 2and 1/2 hours drive from Auckland, the closest tertiary referral centre. The area offers excellent comfortable living standards and a good range of public and private schools.

The ideal candidate will be Chapter of Community Child Health trained, and ideally dual trained in general paediatrics. .



  • Provision of out patient paediatric services including general and rural clinics
  • Maintain communication with hospital based colleagues and GPs
  • Child Protection and violence prevention
  • Service innovation and development
  • Supervision and education of house officers and registrars
  • General Administrative duties as required
  • Research and Audit of service with the intention of continuous improvement
  • CME - maintain current professional knowledge



  • Medical Degree awarded by a medical school recognised by WHO
  • Eligibility for License with Medical Council of New Zealand with vocational scope in Paediatrics
  • FRACP or equivalent
  • Experience of Community Paediatrics
  • Fluent English communication
