The role is based in a 260 bed regional hospital providing standard secondary care services, including oncology, 24/7 emergency department, orthopaedics and trauma service and is supported by tertiary hospitals in Auckland.
Duties
- Provide a high standard of psychology practice, contributing to the provision of an efficient and effective service within the Acute (in-patient) and Persistent (community) Pain Management Services.
- Contribute to the assessment process, as a key member of the multidisciplinary team, leading to sound psychological formulations and treatment recommendations.
- Provide psychological treatment (whether group, family, couple or individual in focus) in consultation with other staff.
- Liaise with hospital services, community agencies and other organisations.
- Participate in the development and functioning of the service with a commitment to bicultural health delivery, education, and innovative practice.
Requirements
- Registered with the NZ Psychologists Board and hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Clinical experience working with people experiencing acute or chronic pain
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary health team.
- Working knowledge and commitment to Tikanga
- Comprehensive psychological assessment and treatment skills
- Clinical experience in a medical or health setting
- Experience using standardised assessment tools and outcome measures
- Proficient in evidence-supported practice
