Role: Cardiologist Consultant
Scope of practice: Non interventional cardiology
This is an exciting new role for an experienced and motivated Cardiologist in an expanding cardiology service in a regional public hospital undergoing modernisation and extensive redevelopment. The cardiology department is growing with the aim to develop a full secondary care service and extensive community based services.
There are facilities for exercise ECGs, ambulatory monitoring, echocardiography (including TOE), diagnostic cardiac angiography, and the insertion and follow up of permanent pacemakers.
There is a well established heart failure service and the service is implementing the national standards for cardiac care.
There is also currently extensive planning to develop the existing service including dedicated diagnostic angiography and pacemaker implantation facilities.
The hospital has 350 beds and serves a regional population of 200,000 with secondary care and acute emergency medicine. Regional services include: Oncology, Breast Screening, Nephrology and Urology, with specialist clinics held at the hospital including Respiratory, Rheumatology, and Paediatrics. Visiting specialists from Wellington attend the hospital for Neurosurgery and Cardiothoracic surgery.
You will need:
- eligible for vocational registration in cardiology with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- FRACP or equivalent specialist qualification
- Demonstrated clinical, management, and teaching skills.
- Excellent team working skills for work in a multi-disciplinary team.
