An exciting opportunity for energetic, enthusiastic Cardiologists is currently available at a regional hospital in the north island of New Zealand.  The positions are part of a significant service redevelopment involving a re-invigorated cardiology service with a confirmed cardiac catheter lab opening late 2019.

The hospital is the largest hospital in the region, providing secondary care services for the local poulation of almost 200,000 supported by three growing district hospitals. There are approximately 4,500 general medical admissions per annum with interesting, challenging and fascinating pathology.

The service has a coronary care unit with five beds, three medical wards with 56 beds and a spacious outpatient facility.  Transoesophageal imaging, exercise and pharmacologic stress testing and CTCA are all established services

The province boasts a subtropical climate and some of the most scenic and exciting coastal areas in New Zealand.  There are opportunities for outdoor activities, including surfing, diving, fishing, hiking and biking. On-site, there is a well-equipped staff gym and an open-air pool. The Auckland metropolis is only two hour's drive away for those special weekend activities.



  • Qualifications: FRACP or equivalent qualification recognised by the Medical Council of New Zealand for vocational registration in Cardiology.
  • License: Vocational Registration or Eligibility for Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • Language: fluent English (IELTS Academic Module 7.5 average for non native speakers)
