The role is based in a region of the North Island of New Zealand with 4 hospitals covering an extensive area of territory. The largest hospital is a regional base hospital with 246 + beds providing secondary care services including 24/7 emergency department, medical and surgical specialties, ICU, ENT, O&G, Paediatrics and Psychiatry. The three smaller hospitals provide basic primary and secondary care. The population has complex health needs.
The cardiology service has been recently redeveloped with a confirmed cardiac catheter lab opening early 2021. The service has a coronary care unit with five beds, three medical wards with 56 beds and a spacious outpatient facility. Transoesophageal imaging, exercise and pharmacologic stress testing and CTCA are all established services.
You will provide cardiology services to in patients and out patients at the regional hospital including angiography, right heart studies and percutaneous coronary intervention.
Skills in Cardiac Echo EP and Cardiac imaging would be appreciated.
You are expected to participate in the education of other medical staff (registrars, house officers, nursing staff, medical students and other medical personnel).
