A cardiologist and internist position is now available within a 15 physician team running the general medical service in Rotorua a city in the wonderful Lakes region of New Zealand’s North Island. The city offers a superb lifestyle, climate and recreational opportunities and is less than 2 hours drive from Auckland, NZ’s largest city and cultural and commercial capital.
A regional general hospital which caters for upwards of 100,000 people and employs over 1500 staff, it has 24/7 emergency department, internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, psychiatry departments supported by radiological and pathology services. The Cardiac services are provided within general medicine and include delivery of inpatient Cardiology support on CCU, dedicated specialist cardiology clinics and a range of non invasive diagnostic modalities (ambulatory cardiac monitoring, 2D/3D transthoracic ECHO, trans-oesophageal ECHO, contact echocardiology, CT Coronary Angiography).
The Dual Role
You will join a team of 15 physicians providing the general medical services and will participate on the on call rota for general medical cover, medical in patient and out patient services in addition to non-interventional cardiac services. You will require vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Internal Medicine or eligibility for this and must hold board certification in internal medicine and subspecialist training in cardiology.
