Australia has a huge need for General Practitioners at the moment. There are many vacancies throughout all regions of the country and we are seeking to fill these with motivated and enthusiastic GPs looking for a new challenge in a medical system which is well organised.
What About Salaries?
GPs in Australia have varied remuneration structures but a fee for service model is common with a percentage retention of total billings. A GP starting off can expect to earn A$300 K + per year and increase this amount with practice development.
GPs need to register with 3 organisations: The RACGP (Royal Australian College of General Practitioners), the AMC (Australian Medical Council) and AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency).
GPs are categorised according to qualifications into Categories 1, 2 and 3. Each category has practice limitations with some requirement to supervision in Categories 2 and 3. (Please contact us for further details).
Australia accepts a large list of qualifications in General Practice and Family Medicine. The favoured ones the the UK and Irish qualifications as these are the most similar to the Australian training. However qualifications from USA, Canada, Singapore, Belgium, Holland, Sweden, Norway and many other countries are accepted. Please contact us to check if you are eligible for a license to practice and for further information.
