United Arab Emirates | Single Medical License

United Arab Emirates | Single Medical License

28th Oct 2014

It is great and long awaited news that the United Arab Emirates is finally taking serious action to simplify the professional licensure procedures for doctors, making it possible to work with a single license throughout the country instead of having to apply for a separate license in each Emirate.

The unification of license procedures was initially announced last January 2014 on the sidelines of the Arab Health Expo and the Dubai Health Authority, Ministry of Health and Health Authority of Abu Dhabi (HAAD) are now taking steps to create the unified license. They are also making UAE nationals exempt from the experience requirements for each license category and reducing the experience requirement for other overseas graduates with qualifications presently listed in Tier 2 of the HAAD PQR from 8 years to 5 for the Consultant license.

Arabian Business reports this but it is not yet clear when this will come into force click here for more information
