Saudi Arabia Hospitals | Only 17% of Hospitals Accredited in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province

6th Mar 2015

It has recently been reported that just 17% of hospitals operating in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia have been officially accredited to practice medicine. According to the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Health Care Institutions (SCBAHI), only 12 of the 72 Government and privately owned hospitals and clinics had official approval.

The revelation comes as the country faces criticism over its handling of the MERS crisis which first broke out in 2012 and has claimed 400 lives.
