Dubai Health Authority (The DHA) and the Thumbay Group have announced a new partnership for the 2018 DHA Excellence Awards, as the Emirates’ healthcare sector continues to develop in the face of the oil-price slowdown.
The partnership will see the second annual ceremony take place in February next year, with medical professionals urged to get their nominations in for the various awards between November 1st, and a still to be confirmed date in January 2018.
Originally proposed by Thumbay Moideen, the Indian founder of the Thumbay Group, and current Chancellor of the Gulf Medical University in Ajman, hopes are high that the awards can be stretched out regionally, and eventually globally to recognise excellence in healthcare.
Speaking at the official signing of the deal, Moideen said: “The region, particularly Dubai, is a favorite medical tourism destination, with high standards of quality and expertise available at affordable costs. Improvement in quality and the facilities will attract more numbers of medical tourists, transforming the region into a medical tourism hub.”
Dr Ajit Nagpal, chairman of the six-member jury for the awards, added: “The award has 14 corporate and nine individual categories where groups or individuals can be nominated, each category has strict selection criteria and a panel of six jury members as well as 20 independent assessors who will arbitrate over the selection.
“This year the awards panel has also included interviews and site visits to be extra vigilant in selecting the most deserving candidate.”
The healthcare sector in the Gulf may be slowing slightly at the moment, however a range of attractive opportunities still remain available throughout the region. For more information, and job alerts, register on our website today - a dream move could be far closer than you may imagine.
