Telemedical advancements in the UAE took a further step forward this week, as Dubai Health Authority installed special ‘Smart Health’ booths in the Emirate’s Road Transport Authority headquarters.
The new machines, which resemble more private versions of the full body scanners now seen at most major airports, allow patients to communicate directly with medical professionals once they have been examined.
Capable of carrying out blood pressure, blood sugar level, temperature, lipid profile, BMI, heart rate, blood oxygen and ECG tests, the machines will allow patients to quickly and efficiently have their health assessed, without having to book an appointment at a medical centre.
The booth will remain at the R&T HQ until July 20th, before moving to the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority until July 27th, the Dubai Municipality until August 3rd, and the Dubai Land Department until the 17th of August.
Chairman of the Board and Director General of the DHA, Humaid Al Qatami, said: “The smart consultation booth is one of the many projects that the authority is implementing as part of the future accelerator initiatives.”
Dubai is considered by many to be an expat's paradise. The Emirate can offer plenty of facilities, tax-free salaries and a luxurious lifestyle. For medics meanwhile it is home to some of the best hospitals in the Gulf.
