The Ministry of Health (MOH) in the United Arab Emirates is forecasting that the number of medical tourists visiting Dubai each year will have passed the 1 million mark by 2020. The statement comes as the Ministry continues work to make the Emirates the world’s leading health tourism destination.
In April of this year the MOH launched the Dubai Health Experience Portal, offering patients an easy way to book medical procedures online. As well as this it also provides them with advice on the other factors to consider when travelling as a health tourist - covering every aspect of the process from booking flights, to applying for a visa and even things to see whilst you are in the country.
The MOH hope that their projected growth in health tourism figures will contribute up to $700m to the economy by the year 2020. This comes as the healthcare industry within the country continues to expand bby around 7% (in real terms) each year.
