The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) met in Muscat this week ahead of the upcoming World Cancer Congress in Oman this October.

The meeting was set out to discuss the agenda and modalities of the Congress with the Oman Cancer Association as well as discussing recurrent cancer control challenges.

What is the World Cancer Congress?

It is an international conference which encourages experts from all over the world to effectively transfer knowledge and best practices with over 3500 cancer control and public health experts from 130 countries.

It aims to strengthen action and impact on a national, regional and international level through a multidisciplinary programme that will feature the latest successful interventions in cancer diagnosis, treatment, prevention and care.

It will be the first time that the Congress will be held in the region. The theme of Congress is “The Way Forward” as it aims to highlight the need for the region and also other parts of the world to work together and head towards a future where cancer loses much of its threat.

The Congress will be taking place in the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Internationals and national partners will be supporting the Congress, like the Oman National Oncology Centre.
