Here at Odyssey, we offer jobs in big cities all over the world which attract candidates to go to work and live in. However, we also have jobs in remote towns within the countries overseas.

If you are not a big city kind of person, then maybe you should consider moving to a small town. Living and working in a small town has its many perks and advantages as you will find out in this article.

Al Khobar - Saudi Arabia

You may be aware that Al Khobar is not a small town in the country of Saudi Arabia but a city in the eastern province. However, with a population of around 160,000 it is a small city compared to the capital Riyadh, for example, which has a population of seven million.

The city sits on the Arabian Gulf and has a large waterfront with cafes and playgrounds along the edge.

If you want to move and work in Saudi Arabia but want a more quieter and less busy place to live then Al Khobar is the place for you.

The city has many beautiful beaches located along the front which would be a great way to spend your days off relaxing or having fun. If you are more interested in attractions than relaxing then there is also a zoo and botanical gardens to visit as well. Shopping centres are usually the largest forms of entertainment complexes in the eastern province.

The Corniche is one of the most popular places for recreation in the city. There are beautiful fountains, pools and decorations in the street. There are many restaurants, department stores and shops to check out when you’re there as well.

If you are looking for a day trip out of Al Khobar then you can make your way across the 25 mile long bridge that goes to Bahrain which is the quickest way to get to the country.

If you like walking then this is the city for you as there are many lovely parks to visit. Iskan Park is one of the biggest and it is filled with exotic plants and landscape decorations. The biggest mosque in the city is also situated in the park and visitors can admire the exterior of the building.

For a more peaceful setting, the Oasis Garden is one of the most picturesque in the city. Here, you can enjoy a relaxing and comfortable visit. The diversity of plants help keep the park cool even when it’s a hot day.
