The United Arab Emirates has cemented its place as one of the most popular locations for expats seeking a better life overseas, but just what attracts so many people to the Gulf’s biggest success story?
We’ve taken a look at five of the biggest attractions of the UAE.
1 - Tax Free Salaries
Of course it goes without saying that the financial rewards of a move to the Emirates are an attraction to a huge number of people. The country can offer some of the world’s highest salaries and, with no income tax and housing often included, this can make a move extremely financially rewarding.
As you would probably imagine the cost of living is high however, and the introduction of VAT at the turn of the year has only further increased this. We’d therefore recommend doing your sums before you go, to work out how well a move would work for you.
2 - Safety and Security
As the majority of people are in the UAE on a Visa for work reasons, and with punishment severe for the small number involved in crime, it should come as little surprise that the country is one of the safest on the planet.
This is especially the case in the expat only compounds, where entry is secure and crime-rates are virtually non-existent.
If you’re looking for somewhere safe to raise a family, then no location on earth is safer than the Emirates.
3 - Prime Location
Whilst the UAE may seem like a different world to those of us in the UK, it isn’t actually as far away as you’d think. It takes under seven hours to fly from London, and the country is positioned within easy reach of...pretty much everywhere.
Dubai International Airport is one of the world’s busiest, with flights taking people to Australia, The Far East, Europe and America on an almost hourly basis. The demand is so high that prices can be kept low, making it the ideal location for someone looking to explore the rest of the region, or simply looking to take short breaks during long weekends.
4 - Fantastic Healthcare
The United Arab Emirates has one of the highest number of Joint Commission International (JCI) accredited healthcare facilities in the world, and this is testament to the quality of care on offer in the country.
Healthcare is benefiting from heavy investment as the Emirates attempts to build itself up as a hub for health tourism. This means that there are still plenty of opportunities within a competitive and challenging environment.
5 - A Mixed Culture
As you would expect from a country with a diverse population, there really is something for everyone in the UAE.
Whether you are looking to explore Islamic history, have a traditional Thai meal or even go skiing (yes, really…) the UAE will have you covered.
This makes the country perfect for people with children to entertain, and allows you to explore the world from your doorstep. Nowhere else on earth can offer such a wide variety of amenities within such a small area.
