Job Description:
A Specialist Anaesthetist is sought for participation in the full spectrum of anaesthesia services. Any anaesthetist who is also a Fellow of JFICM is encouraged to apply as Intensive Care duties could be negotiated for such an applicant. Any anaesthetist who is a Fellow of FPMANZCA, or who has significant expertise in the field of Pain Management, is also encouraged to apply as clinical responsibilities in this area could be negotiated for a suitable applicant.

The modern theatre complex consists of seven operating theatres. The department is staffed by 16 specialist anaesthetists, five registrars in training posts and four senior house officers. The Hospital is a busy secondary hospital providing some tertiary services, with recently completed modern facilities.

•specialist medical staff with registrar and house officer support
•active Postgraduate Medical Society
•well-subscribed medical library with Medline computer facilities
•committed multi-disciplinary teams for our services, including quality nursing and paramedical staff. There is a healthy private practice of anaesthesia in Palmerston North, and a half day off per week would be available for the appointees to the above position to pursue opportunities in this area.

Palmerston North is a major university city and is at the hub of key routes to the central North Island ski fields, and river adventures. Wellington the capital city, is only a two hour journey by road, as are the wine growing regions of Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa.
